Mirror Setup

Setting up a mirror

Before you start

Create your Perch account and set up your sensor - physical or virtual.

Once your account is created and your sensor is installed you are ready to begin your Mirror setup.

A mirror (aka SPAN port) copies or forwards over packets from one port to another. This page will provide instructions on how to setup your mirror.

Getting started

  1. Unbox your sensor (if physical)
  2. It is important that you cable it first and then power it on
  3. Now that your sensor is on, you will need to locate it

Locating your sensor

A. If using an HDMI monitor and USB keyboard, plug them directly into the sensor.
B. Locating your sensor via the network, check out this article.

Note:

Hyper-V 2016 does not work with most Broadcom/QLogic network cards. To determine if it would be supported in your environment, please follow the steps listed below. Once you have saved your new virtual switch, open Virtual Switch manager again. Expand your new virtual switch and select Extensions. If the NDIS capture box is still checked, your install will be supported. If the box is now unchecked your Broadcom/Qlogic cards are not supported.
